It seems Albany coffee is among the nation’s best after our local roast won a bronze medal at the 2018 Australian International Coffee Awards!
This was the first year that we sent coffee over to Melbourne for judging and our win came in the single origin, espresso category with a dynamic washed coffee from Ethiopia Guji.
It has certainly been a favourite coffee at our roasting HQ so it was no surprise that it caught the judges’ attention. They noted its floral aroma, zesty acidity and dried fruit aftertaste.
Grown in southern Ethiopia, it was produced by small-hold farmers and processed at the Gigesa Washing Station. Hats off to these farmers who took care of the coffee throughout the season to produce an exceptional specialty grade coffee.
We have previously written about the advantages of choosing a local roaster and it now seems another reason can be added – our coffee is as good as anywhere in Australia!
